Characteristics: Heroic spirits are images of past heroes who can be called forth by powerful summoners to do their bidding. They sustain themselves on their master's mana, and disperse when the supply is cut.

Special Abilities: Depending on the actual hero in question, the abilities vary greatly, but the most powerful skills usually include dealing destruction over a wide area in some manner. The strength and endurance of the spirit is mainly decided by the ability and mana pool of the summoner.

Origin:It is speculated that once upon a time, a mighty and ancient nation was suffering a crushing military defeat at the hands of its enemies. The capitol was under siege, most of the army was lost and the situation looked generally hopeless, but then the greatest wizards of the nation gathered together and decided to try and perform a ritual to bring back warriors of the past to aid them in this dire time. They succeeded, and drawing upon the combined magic potential of the wizard council, a number of such "heroic spirits" was brought forth to unleash their mythical powers on the enemy armies. How the battle turned out is uncertain, but even thousands of years after that, adventurers would occasionally find strange runic scrolls in some ruins.

Notes: Any mage can try to use such a scroll, but one needs to be an expert summoner specialist in order to acutally bend the summoned spirits to their will and supplying them with enough mana to be able to use their abilities effectively.
